Two New Sensei - Carolyne Ikeda and Akia Vongdara
Two San Mateo kenshi have become sensei by passing 4 dan at the NCKF promotion test which was held on November 5, 2023. It was the first time that two kenshi passed 4 dan at the same time in our dojo. Congratulations! Many other kenshi of San Mateo dojo have passed the ranks which they challenged.
NCKF Championship Tournament 2023
Great job at the NCKF 2023 Championship tournament which was held on October 29th. Sarafina Cabatic won 3rd place in the 11-13 years division. Catherine Ikeda won 3rd place in the Women's division. Carolyne Ikeda won 3rd place in the Women's division. Congratulations!
Two Medals at Oakland Tournament - 70th Anniversary
San Mateo kenshi won two medals at the 70th anniversary tournament of Oakland Kendo Dojo which was held on July 30th. Konopka Sensei won 1st place in the 5 dan and above division. Catherine Ikeda won 3rd place in the Women's division. Congratulations!
Konopka Sensei Participates in National Kendo Championship Tournament
Great news! Konopka sensei participated in the National Championship Tournament representing NCKF. The championships were held from June 30 to July 2 in Detroit, Michigan.
Updated Season Schedule for Summer 2023
Summer season of San Mateo class started on Tuesday, June 6th and Foster City class started on Saturday, June 17th. Please check the updated season schedule and mark your calendar for your record.
Mask Policy Is Now Optional
Because of better environment regarding COVID cases, we started keiko with a mask option policy on May 16th, 2023. The plastic mouth shield inside Men stayed until further notice.
